Executive Coaching

In many ways, executives are the public face of your organization, the individuals that customers and employees interact with on a regular basis. One-on-one coaching is a simple yet effective way to help your executives do and be their best.

Coaching helps managers identify and resolve issues that impair professional performance. It also enhances the skills necessary for stronger performance or to prepare for a promotion.

For example, we help individuals cultivate:

  • Communication skills
  • Time-management practices
  • Stress management practices
  • The perspectives and interpersonal skills required to turn around troubled areas or seize an opportunity for growth

Coaching may include an initial meeting with the candidate and his or her boss, leadership inventories and 360° feedback. Coaching is typically scheduled every two to three weeks and conducted at our office over a six- to twelve-month period.

Case Studies:
Helping a high-potential individual develop leadership skills
We coached an emerging leader in a $50MM law firm to help him step into the role of managing partner.  We worked with him for nine months to:

  • Cultivate strategic thinking abilities;
  • Learn influencing skills;
  • Develop administrative competence in managing increasingly complex agendas;
  • Negotiate his transition within the organization to clarify roles and responsibilities;
  • Establish a relationship with the board of directors.

As a result, he was prepared, confident, and effective upon taking the position.

Helping a competent manager cultivate interpersonal skills
We worked with a mid-level manager who was extremely competent on the job but whose poor interpersonal skills often led to conflicts with direct reports. We helped her learn to manage emotional reactivity under stress and keep her cool when dealing with coworkers, especially underperforming employees.

As a result, she has:

  • Built more committed and effective relationships with direct reports;
  • Learned to take the ups and downs of organizational life in stride;
  • Achieved greater work/life balance, reducing job stress and increasing her productivity.
